Job summary

IPEX Technologies Inc. seeks a Winter 2027 R&D Co-op student for its Mississauga office. You will contribute to vinyl formulation development, evaluate polymer properties, and assist with material sourcing and trials. You will maintain lab records and help drive 5S initiatives in the lab.

Ideal candidates are pursuing Chemical or Nanotechnology Engineering (or related) with co-op plastics experience and knowledge of DOE/Minitab. Strong teamwork and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering, Nanotechnology Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or equivalent in Materials/Polymer Science.
• Previous co-op in a plastics industry/R&D environment preferred.
• Experience with DOE/statistical tools such as Minitab is a plus.
• Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Team player with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to development of new/existing vinyl formulations.
• Evaluate properties of polymers including PVC, CPVC, ABS, PE, PP, PVDF.
• Assist in sourcing raw material ingredients via evaluation projects.
• Participate in extrusion and/or injection molding trials.
• Use analytical tools to identify root causes of product failures.
• Use statistical tools to validate significance of findings.
• Write technical lab reports and present findings with the team.
• Maintain an up-to-date laboratory notebook and project records using Filemaker Pro.
• Assist the R&D Group with 5S initiatives and maintaining a clean working environment.
