Job summary

MNP, a leading Canadian accounting and advisory firm, seeks an Accountant for its Assurance & Accounting team. You’ll build skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax while delivering tailored financial information that helps clients act confidently.

Based in Peterborough, you’ll support client engagements, travel as needed and collaborate with diverse teams. A commerce/finance degree and CPA-PEP prerequisites are preferred, with accounting software experience valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration with accounting/finance focus.
• Pursuit of CPA-PEP prerequisites encouraged at start of employment.
• Experience with accounting software is an asset.
• Customer service or client service experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax.
• Apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP and ASPE as appropriate.
• Set up client files, manage multiple files and conduct inventory counts.
• Handle accounts receivable/payable, asset acquisitions and payroll walkthroughs with clients.
• Summarize financial status and prepare balance sheets and P&L reports.
• Review and correct discrepancies in financial entries and reports.
• Prepare client correspondence, technical reports and presentations.
• Collaborate with client engagement team and maintain client relationships.
• Contribute to process improvements and travel as needed.
