Job summary

MNP is seeking a Co-op Accountant for the Assurance & Accounting team in Hanover, ON. This role focuses on developing technical accounting skills across compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax, while collaborating with client teams to deliver tailored financial information.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a commerce/business degree (accounting/finance) with CPA prerequisites in progress, and have prior accounting or client service experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting/finance major preferred)
• Completion of CPA Professional Education Program prerequisites in progress upon employment
• Previous accounting related office experience is an asset
• Customer service and/or client service experience is an asset
• Experience using accounting and tax software is an asset

Responsibilities

• Develop technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax
• Apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP and ASPE as applicable
• Set up files for new clients and manage multiple files simultaneously
• Perform accounts receivable, accounts payable, asset acquisition and payroll walkthroughs with clients
• Summarize financial status with balance sheets and income statements
• Review and correct discrepancies in financial entries and reports
• Establish charts of accounts and prepare posting entries
• Prepare client correspondence, technical reports and summaries
• Collaborate with client engagement team and build relationships with client contacts
• Maintain flexibility to travel as necessary
