Job summary

Providence Health Care is seeking a Booking Clerk for St. Paul’s Medical Imaging Department to support clinic operations and patient flow.

You will interview patients, schedule outpatient appointments, enter data into health information systems, and provide front-desk reception and administrative support. The role requires Grade 12, two years of related experience, and strong typing (40 wpm) with knowledge of medical terminology.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12.
• Two years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to keyboard at 40 wpm.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to deal with others effectively.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to organize work.
• Ability to operate related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Appointment management: schedules, books, adjusts, and cancels outpatient appointments.
• Coordinate and communicate with doctors' offices to request patient records and test results.
• Interview patients to gather personal details and enter information into the system.
• Reception duties: answer calls, greet visitors, provide routine information.
• File and chart management: maintain patient files and ensure accuracy.
• Clerical duties: data entry, photocopying, scanning, faxing, and meeting arrangements.
• Book diagnostic tests (e.g., Radiology or Lab) and provide patient instructions.
• Downtime reporting: generate operational statistics from data.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and assist with other duties.
