Job summary

Crombie REIT in Halifax is seeking a Maintenance Worker based at Scotia Square to perform ongoing building maintenance and repairs, ensuring Crombie premises are kept to high standards and that the customer parking experience remains exceptional.

Responsibilities include responding to client requests, maintaining grounds and facilities, basic plumbing/painting/repairs, daily inspections, and coordinating with snow removal contractors.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent education is required.
• Trade certification is considered an asset.
• Ability to understand equipment manuals and drawings.
• Beginner level Microsoft Office skills (Word/Outlook).
• Strong maintenance skills with commercial property experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to Client and Client Services requests in a professional, timely manner.
• Maintain grounds and facilities to Crombie standards.
• Perform light plumbing, painting, and general repairs as needed.
• Complete daily inspections and maintenance checklists.
• Perform tasks such as window washing and general facility cleaning.
• Schedule and complete preventative maintenance programs.
• Conduct daily property inspections and ensure safety procedures are followed.
• Assist with snow and ice removal in coordination with a contractor.
• Respond to emergencies and investigate building operation issues when required.
• Collaborate across all levels to promote a safe, respectful work environment.

Position Summary

Based out of Scotia Square, the Client Services Worker is responsible for ongoing building maintenance and repairs while ensuring Crombie premises are maintained to high standards, while supporting an exceptional customer parking experience.

Additional duties of the Maintenance Worker include but are not limited to:

• Respond to Client and Client Services requests for assistance in a professional and timely manner.
• Maintain grounds and facilities according to Crombie standards.
• Perform ongoing building maintenance and repairs including, but not limited to: light plumbing, painting, and general repairs, and maintenance.
• Complete inspections and maintenance checklist items daily to promote operational effectiveness, and a clean and safe facilities appearance.
• Perform maintenance tasks such as: washing windows, interior walls and ceilings, trash removal, access gate repairs, drainage monitoring & clearance, general cleaning including signage and parking equipment, general facility monitoring for maintenance work required, and golf cart operation and maintenance.
• Schedule and complete preventative maintenance program.
• Perform daily property inspections.
• Understand the importance of safety in the workplace and follow all health and safety procedures.
• Perform duties such as snow and ice removal from areas around the property in collaboration with snow removal contractor.
• Respond to building emergencies and conduct investigations into building operation issues when required.
• Engages across all levels of the organization to create and promote a safe and respectful work environment.
• Other special projects and tasks as assigned.

The profile we are looking for

• Grade 12 or acceptable equivalent in education.
• Trade certification considered an asset.
• Ability to understand equipment manuals and read drawings when required.
• Beginner level Microsoft Office skills (i.e. Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook).
• Strong maintenance skills.
• Previous experience in commercial property maintenance considered an asset.
• Experience working with property maintenance software programs (i.e. Yardi Voyager) considered an asset.
• Capability to meet the role’s medium physical demand level - lifting and/or carrying: occasional 26-50 pounds; frequent 11-25 pounds, and constantly 1-10 pounds, and including:
• Bilateral lifting/lowering from floor to shoulder - 10-50 pounds
• Bilateral lifting/lowering above shoulder - five pounds
• Unilateral lifting/lowering from floor to shoulder - 5-20 pounds
• Unilateral lifting/lowering above should - five pounds
