Job summary

YMCA of Exploits Valley, based in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, is seeking a heavy duty cleaner who is self-motivated with good interpersonal skills and can start as soon as possible. This is a permanent, full-time role with early morning shifts from 06:00 to 13:00 and a 35-hour work week.

The duties include cleaning, mopping, moving heavy items, and basic maintenance. Fluency in English and a relevant college certificate or diploma are required, with 1–2 years in a related field preferred.

Qualifications

• Fluent English language required.
• Certificate or diploma from a College/CEGEP or similar program lasting 3 months to <1 year, or equivalent experience.
• 1–2 years of related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, scrub, and wax hallways, floors, and stairs.
• Empty trash cans and other waste containers.
• Clean windows, interior walls, and ceilings.
• Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as painting and plasterboard repair.
• Clean and disinfect bathrooms and fixtures.
• Clear snow and ice from walkways and parking lots.
