Job summary

Birch Mountain Enterprises is seeking experienced Class 3 Operators for a temporary ~6-month assignment at the Cenovus site in Fort McMurray. TDG knowledge, with a minimum of 3 years of manual transmission and Combo Vac experience, is required.

Duties include operating Combo Vac units, tank cleaning (confined space), daily documentation, toolbox safety meetings, and TDG/WHMIS compliance. Camp and flights are provided, with a supportive, safety‑mocused team environment.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 3 driver’s license with a clean abstract.
• Minimum 3 years of experience, including up to 18 speed manual class 1 or 3 equipment.
• Previous or related experience operating Combo Vac units.
• Tank cleaning experience is an asset.
• Mining drive experience is an asset.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Confined Space Entry ticket.
• OSSA (or BSO/CSO) and CSTS certification.
• Certification in Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Daily Trip Inspections, Alberta Hours of Service, Weights and Dimensions, Cargo Securement for flatbeds, WHMIS, and H2S Alive.
• Must pass BME driver’s evaluation, Drug and Alcohol and fit for duty screening.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily documentation (logbooks, work orders, risk assessments, and pre/post-trip inspections).
• Follow instructions from Dispatch or Supervisor.
• Daily housekeeping of the assigned truck.
• Attend toolbox and safety meetings and adhere to site safety procedures.
• Maintain and operate all BME tools and equipment to standards.
• Ensure training is kept current.
• Follow TDG and WHMIS standards.
• Seek continuous improvement opportunities.
• Provide customer-focused services.

Operators should be mechanically inclined and physically fit to work in all kinds of weather. Preference will be given to candidates that possess previous experience in the industrial sector.
