Job summary

Canada Cartage is seeking dependable Class 1 Owner Operator drivers for local and regional routes based in Port Coquitlam. You will safely operate company vehicles, complete deliveries across British Columbia, and manage reefer shipments with attention to load security and regulatory compliance.

Ideal candidates have a clean CVOR, recent verifiable driving experience, and strong customer service skills. A flexible schedule, including weekends or overnight runs, may be required to meet

Qualifications

• Valid Class 1 driver's license.
• Bondable and legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Clean CVOR and driver’s abstract.
• Verifiable recent commercial driving experience (past 3 months to 1 year).
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as required.
• Mountain driving experience.
• Strong knowledge of Vancouver and surrounding areas.
• Experience operating reefer equipment in compliance with policies.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate company vehicles to transport freight across local routes and regional lanes.
• Complete deliveries and pickups to customer locations within British Columbia in a safe, timely, and professional manner.
• Operate reefer equipment in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Secure freight using straps, chains, and load bars and ensure load-securement standards.
• Transport temperature-controlled goods following safety and regulatory guidelines.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report issues promptly.
• Accurately complete eLogs, inspection reports, delivery paperwork, and incident reports.
• Maintain hours-of-service compliance and safe operation.
• Be flexible to meet operational and customer demands, including variable schedules, overtime, weekends, or overnight runs.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections of the vehicle, including checking tires, brakes, lights, and cargo securement; promptly report any issues to the maintenance department for timely repairs.
• Accurately complete all required documentation, including e-logs, inspection reports, delivery paperwork, and incident reports
• Maintain compliance with hours-of-service regulations, safety policies, and company procedures
• Maintain flexibility to meet operational and customer demands, including variable schedules, overtime, weekends, or overnight runs as required

Core Requirements (All Driver Roles)

• Valid Class 1 driver's license
• Bondable and legally eligible to work in Canada
• Clean CVOR and driver’s abstract
• Verifiable recent commercial driving experience (within the past 3 months to 1 year)
• Strong understanding of road safety regulations, hours of service, and load securement
• Experience operating commercial vehicles in winter driving conditions
• Ability to accurately complete eLogs, vehicle inspection reports, and delivery documentation
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as required
• Strong customer service and communication skills with a professional, safety-focused approach
• Minimum 1-5 year of verifiable Class 1 driving experience
• 6 months–2 years of Canada-wide driving experience
• Mountain driving experience required
• Strong knowledge of Vancouver and surrounding areas
• Ability to safely perform hand-bombing, including manual loading and unloading of freight, as required
