Qualifications

• Valid Class 1 license with manual transmission.
• Bondable and eligible to work in Canada.
• Clean commercial driving abstract with ≤3 demerits.
• Recent commercial driving experience (past 3 months to 1 year).
• Strong knowledge of road safety regulations, hours of service, and load securement.
• Experience operating in winter driving conditions.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs regularly and 75 lbs as required.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills in a safety-focused environment.
• Minimum 1 year of verifiable Class 1 driving experience.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate company vehicles to transport trailers around company property.
• Use shunt equipment per policies and regulatory requirements.
• Secure freight using straps, chains, and load bars per standards.
• Transport general freight following safety guidelines.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report issues promptly.
• Complete required documentation including e-logs and delivery paperwork.
• Maintain compliance with hours-of-service and company procedures.
• Adapt to variable schedules, overtime, weekends, or overnight runs as needed.
• Move 15-25 shunt trailers per shift with a shunt truck.
• Park trailers efficiently and maintain tidy yard spacing for traffic flow.
• Ensure trailers are in good working condition and ready to load.

Position Summary

Position Title: Class 1 Shunt Driver

Responsibilities

• Safely operate company vehicles to transport trailers around company property
• Operate shunt equipment in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements
• Secure freight using appropriate equipment such as straps, chains, and load bars, ensuring compliance with load-securement standards
• Transport general freight in accordance with safety and regulatory guidelines
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections of the vehicle, including checking tires, brakes, lights, and cargo securement; promptly report any issues to the maintenance department for timely repairs.
• Accurately complete all required documentation, including e-logs, inspection reports, delivery paperwork, and incident reports
• Maintain compliance with hours-of-service regulations, safety policies, and company procedures
• Maintain flexibility to meet operational and customer demands, including variable schedules, overtime, weekends, or overnight runs as required
• Moving around 15-25 shunt trailers per shift using a shunt truck
• Be able to park trailers efficiently and tidy yard spacing to help traffic flow
• Ensure trailers are in good working condition and readily available to be loaded

Core Requirements

• Valid Class 1 driver's license (manual transmission required)
• Bondable and legally eligible to work in Canada
• Clean 5 years Commercial driving abstract (no more than 3 demerits and 3 negative events)
• Verifiable recent commercial driving experience (within the past 3 months to 1 year)
• Strong understanding of road safety regulations, hours of service, and load securement
• Experience operating commercial vehicles in winter driving conditions
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as required
• Strong customer service and communication skills with a professional, safety-focused approach
• Minimum 1 year of verifiable Class 1 truck driving experience

Specialized Equipment considered an asset

• Previous experience operating specialized equipment, including tailgates, forklifts, power and manual pallet jacks, pump trucks, or Moffett's

Physical Requirements

• Ability to safely perform hand-bombing, including manual loading and unloading of freight, as required
