Job summary

Canada Cartage Group in Oshawa, ON is hiring an AZ Shunt Driver for local evening shifts. You will safely operate local routes and shunt equipment, delivering reliable service while upholding safety standards.

The role requires an AZ license, clean CVOR and driving abstract, and recent verifiable commercial driving experience. You will perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and adapt to variable schedules, including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate company vehicles across local routes.
• Operate Shunt tractor-trailer equipment in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Move around 15-25 shunt trailers per shift using a shunt truck.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report issues to maintenance.
• Maintain compliance with hours-of-service regulations, safety policies, and procedures.
• Maintain flexibility to meet operational and customer demands, including variable schedules, overtime, weekends, or overnight runs.

Responsibilities:

• Safely operate company vehicles across local routes
• Operate Shunt tractor-trailer equipment in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements
• Moving around 15-25 shunt trailers per shift using a shunt truck
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections of the vehicle, including checking tires, brakes, lights, and cargo securement; promptly report any issues to the maintenance department for timely repairs.
• Maintain compliance with hours-of-service regulations, safety policies, and company procedures
• Maintain flexibility to meet operational and customer demands, including variable schedules, overtime, weekends, or overnight runs as required

Core Requirements (All Driver Roles)

• Valid AZ driver's license
• Bondable and legally eligible to work in Canada
• Clean CVOR and driver’s abstract
• Verifiable recent commercial driving experience within the past 1 year
• Strong understanding of road safety regulations, hours of service, and load securement
• Experience operating commercial vehicles in winter driving conditions
• Strong customer service and communication skills with a professional, safety-focused approach
