Job summary

Birch Mountain Enterprises is seeking a qualified operator to safely operate Class 1 or 3 units from our Fort McKay main shop. The role requires mechanical aptitude and the ability to work in all weather conditions.

Preference will be given to candidates with industrial sector experience. Candidates must hold a valid Class 1 license with a clean abstract and relevant safety certifications; potential to join a long-term team in Fort McMurray area.

Qualifications

  • Possess a valid Class 1 driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract.
  • Minimum 3 years experience including up to 18 speed manual class 1 or 3 equipment.
  • Previous or related experience operating Water, Vacuum, Hydro or ComboVac units.
  • Mine drive experience is an asset.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • OSSA (or BSO/CSO) and CSTS certification.
  • Certification in Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Daily Trip Inspections, Provincial Hours of Service for Alberta, Weights and Dimensions, Cargo Securement for flatbeds, WHMIS, and H2S Alive considered an asset.
  • Must successfully pass BME driver’s evaluation, Drug and Alcohol and fit for duty pre-employment screening.

Responsibilities

  • Operate several types of units (Water, sewer, Vacuum, Hydro-Vac, Roll off, Steam truck, Flat bed, Tanker, B-Train) in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Must be physically able to perform tasks and work in all weather.
  • Complete daily documentation including daily logbooks, customer work orders, field level risk assessment, pre/post trip inspections.
  • Follow instructions from Dispatch or Supervisor.
  • Complete daily housekeeping of assigned truck to ensure maintenance of company image.
  • Attend daily toolbox and safety meetings and adhere to safety regulations and procedures.
  • Maintain and operate all BME tools and equipment to required standards.
  • Ensure that all training is kept current.
  • Follow all TDG and WHMIS standards and regulations.
  • Seek out continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Provide customer-focused services in all activities.
