Job summary

Nhwelmen Construction in Kamloops is seeking an experienced Class 1 Lowbed Driver to haul oversize and overweight loads using a lowbed trailer. You will ensure loads are secured, perform pre- and post-trip inspections, and maintain compliance with provincial regulations.

The role requires a valid Class 1 license, proven lowbed trailer experience, ability to work outdoors in varying weather, and a commitment to safety and equipment care.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 1 driver’s license with an acceptable commercial driver’s abstract.
• Proven experience operating lowbed trailers and hauling oversize/overweight loads.
• Ability to safely operate heavy equipment (asset).
• Ability to complete mandatory online orientation, site-specific training, and certification requirements.
• Ability to pass pre-employment Drug & Alcohol pre-screening.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate lowbed truck and trailer hauling heavy equipment and machinery.
• Work safely in a mining or civil construction environment following company policies and procedures.
• Transport oversize and overweight loads in compliance with provincial regulations.
• Safely load and secure equipment for transport.
• Assist with loading/unloading equipment where required.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure safety and equipment compliance.
• Accurately complete all work reports and maintenance logs as required.
• Ensure all loads are secured and transported safely.
• Daily 360° inspection of equipment for operational and safety checks and advise if repair is required.
• Support operations through manual labour, including shoveling, operating powered equipment, loading and unloading of miscellaneous supplies and equipment, light maintenance, and other duties as needed.

CLASS 1 DRIVER - LOWBED

Nhwelmen Construction is seeking an experienced Class 1 Lowbed Driver to support our operations. This position operates lowbed truck and trailer combination to haul oversized and overweight loads, ensuring compliance with permitting, route requirements, and transportation regulations. The successful candidate must have strong load securement skills and a commitment to safety and equipment care.

This position is based out of the Kamloops / Thompson area of British Columbia. This is not a camp position.
