Job summary

Canada Cartage Group in Vancouver BC is seeking a Class 1 City Shunt Truck Driver to safely operate company vehicles on local routes, complete deliveries and pickups within Vancouver, and comply with hours-of-service and safety policies.

The role requires a valid Class 1 license, clean CVOR, recent verifiable Class 1 experience, and strong customer service. Shift: Wednesday to Sunday, starting at 10:00pm; overtime/overnight runs may be required. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

  • Must have valid Class 1 license and be bondable.
  • CVOR clean driving record required.
  • Verifiable recent Class 1 driving experience (past 3–12 months).
  • Strong knowledge of Vancouver area and safe driving practices.

Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment per policies and regulations.
  • Secure freight with straps/loads and ensure proper restraint.

Position Title: Class 1 - City Shunt Truck Driver

Location (Start Point): Vancouver BC

Start Time: 10:00pm

We are seeking dependable, safety-focused, and customer-oriented truck drivers to join our growing transportation team. Responsibilities
  • Safely operate company vehicles to transport freight across city/ local routes
  • Complete deliveries and pickups to customer locations within Vancouver in a safe, timely, and professional manner
  • Operate tractor-trailer equipment in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Secure freight using appropriate equipment such as straps, chains, and load bars, ensuring compliance with load-securement standards
  • Transport general freight in accordance with safety and regulatory guidelines
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections of the vehicle, including checking tires, brakes, lights, and cargo securement; promptly report any issues to the maintenance department for timely repairs.
  • Accurately complete all required documentation, including e-logs, inspection reports, delivery paperwork, and incident reports
  • Maintain compliance with hours-of-service regulations, safety policies, and company procedures
  • Maintain flexibility to meet operational and customer demands, including variable schedules, overtime, weekends, or overnight runs as required
Core Requirements
  • Valid Class 1 driver's license
  • Bondable and legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Clean CVOR and driver’s abstract
  • Verifiable recent commercial driving experience (within the past 3 months to 1 year)
  • Strong understanding of road safety regulations, hours of service, and load securement
  • Experience operating commercial vehicles in winter driving conditions
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as required
  • Strong customer service and communication skills with a professional, safety-focused approach
  • Minimum 1 year of verifiable Class 1 truck driving experience
  • Strong knowledge of Vancouver and surrounding areas
Specialized Equipment
  • Previous experience operating specialized equipment, including tailgates, forklifts, power and manual pallet jacks, pump trucks, or Moffett's
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to safely perform hand-bombing, including manual loading and unloading of freight, as required
