Job summary

DXC Technology is seeking a claims specialist in Canada (Halifax) to analyse insurance contracts, assess claim payments, and maintain thorough documentation. The role requires bilingual English-French communication, strong written and verbal skills, and experience with Living Benefits claims.

You will interact with insured individuals, gather information, and ensure regulatory compliance in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two+ years of claims handling experience, preferably Living Benefits.
  • Knowledge of basic computer systems (word processing, emails, spreadsheets).
  • Aptitude for learning new computer systems.
  • Experience with claims processing procedures and documentation.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of disability and life insurance preferable.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes insurance contracts to ensure provisions are applied correctly.
  • Evaluates each claim for appropriateness of payment, denial, calculation of benefits, etc.
  • Bilingual in English and French languages.
  • Requests and reviews all necessary information to assess each claim.
  • Communicates with the insured routinely to provide statuses and updates as needed.
  • Accurately inputs pertinent information into the appropriate claim system and processes in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Claim handling should be thorough, understandable and properly documented.
  • Insurance regulations must be adhered to as required and internal service level standards met.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two or more years of claims handling experience, preferably handling Living Benefit claims, such as Disability Income, Critical Illness and Disability Waiver or Premium claims.
  • Knowledge of basic computer systems such as word processing, emails, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Aptitude for learning new computer systems.
  • Experience working with appropriate claims processing procedures and documentation, and experience with administrative procedures, legislative requirements, and medical principles as they relate to examination and approval of Living Benefits insurance claims.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of disability and life insurance preferable.
