Job description

Dawson Civil is looking for a Project Coordinator who has a team-oriented mindset, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.

As a Project Coordinator with Dawson Civil, you will play a key role in supporting project operations and ensuring smooth execution from start to finish. This is a seasonal, full-time position, where you will report directly to the Project Manager and collaborate with project teams to help deliver high-quality deep and shallow utility projects. Your base location will be Kamloops, British Columbia and will require travel throughout our province.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
  1. Assist in project planning, scheduling, and coordination to ensure timely and cost-effective completion.
  2. Monitor project progress, track key deliverables, and report on project performance to the Project Manager.
  3. Prepare and maintain project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, change orders, and progress reports.
  4. Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and field teams to ensure smooth workflow and adherence to project timelines.
  5. Conduct site visits to monitor work quality, safety compliance, and progress.
  6. Support estimating and procurement efforts by assisting with quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, and material sourcing.
  7. Ensure compliance with contract documents, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  8. Assist in the preparation and negotiation of change orders and claims.
  9. Facilitate communication between internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to address project challenges.
WHAT YOU BRING
  1. Engineering Degree, Civil Engineering Technology diploma, or a related field is an asset.
  2. Minimum 3-5 years in civil construction, with experience in project coordination, estimating, or field engineering.
  3. An understanding of construction methodologies, scheduling, and cost control. Experience with estimating software (preferably HCSS) is an asset.
  4. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate with diverse teams.
  5. Ability to anticipate project challenges and assist in developing proactive solutions.
  6. Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on accuracy and efficiency.
