Job summary

City of Wetaskiwin seeks an experienced leader to serve as City Engineer and Manager of Engineering. You will plan, direct, and evaluate city engineering programs, supervising staff and coordinating with Planning and Development to deliver infrastructure projects.

The role requires a P.Eng. designation (or eligibility) with 8+ years in municipal engineering, strong project management, budgeting, and stakeholder communication skills. Competitive benefits and growth opportunities await.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a P.Eng. designation (or eligible) required.
• Minimum 8+ years of related municipal engineering experience, with leadership/supervisory history.
• Strong knowledge of municipal infrastructure, asset management, and budgeting processes.
• Experience with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Questica, and MS Office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership to the Engineering Department and supervise staff.
• Oversee capital projects from planning to delivery per approved policies.
• Develop and monitor budgets and long-term financial plans for municipal infrastructure.
• Coordinate with Planning, Development, and other departments to advance city projects.
• Manage consultant contracts and ensure compliance with design standards and specifications.
• Represent the City in regional technical committees and with external stakeholders.
