Job summary

The City of Wetaskiwin is seeking an experienced City Engineer to provide strategic leadership for the Engineering Department, overseeing planning, design, and delivery of municipal infrastructure projects. This role partners with Planning and Development to turn vision into action and ensures service excellence for internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate holds a Civil Engineering degree with a P.Eng.

Qualifications

• Bachelor2s degree in civil engineering with a P.Eng. designation and minimum eight years of related experience.
• Professional license (P.L. (Eng.)) or P.Tech. (Eng.) with substantial experience may be considered.
• Experience in municipal infrastructure, budgeting, asset management, and contract management.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the Engineering Department, including performance management and recruitment.
• Lead project management for capital projects and ensure compliance with approved policies.
• Coordinate with Planning and Development to advance the city2s vision.
• Oversee subdivision review, land development, and adherence to design standards.
• Prepare budgets, cost estimates, and monitor expenditures for the department.
• Represent the City in regional technical committees and report to Council.
