Job summary

Active Start Child Care in Calgary, Alberta is seeking multiple Casual on-call Educators with a strong understanding of child development and exceptional engagement and communication skills. Candidates should be English-fluent, available for full-day shifts at least three days per week, and able to obtain Alberta Child Care certification levels 1–3, plus a police check and first aid/CPR.

Qualifications

  • Prior childcare experience preferred.
  • Completion of Alberta Child Care certification levels 1, 2 or 3 required.
  • Clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills including basic computer literacy.
  • Knowledge of Alberta child care legislation and licensing regulations would be an asset.

About The Role

We are seeking multiple Casual (on call) Educators who posses a strong understanding of child development, exceptional engagement skills, and a dedication to fostering positive relationships with both children and colleagues. The ideal candidates will be dependable, adaptable, fluent in English, and exhibit outstanding communication and multitasking abilities. Prior experience is advantageous, and candidates must possess or be willing to obtain Alberta Child Care certification levels 1, 2, or 3, along with current criminal record check (with vulnerable sector search) and first aid certification.

This is a Casual (on call) position where Directors will reach out to employees to cover shifts when regular Educators are absent. We are seeking individuals who have full-day availability at least three days per week. On average, employees can expect to work 1-4 shifts per week, depending on their preferences and the needs of the center.
