Job summary

Active Start Child Care in Edmonton’s Harvest Hills location is seeking a Casual Educator to support early learning with engaging, developmentally appropriate activities. This on-call role requires reliability, English fluency, and strong communication to build positive relationships with children and families.

Ideal candidates will have Alberta Child Care certification levels 1–3 (or be willing to obtain), a current criminal record check with vulnerable sector search, and valid First Aid/CPR.

Qualifications

• Clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
• Completion of Alberta Child Care certification levels 1–3 or willingness to obtain.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills including basic computer literacy.

About The Role

We are seeking a Casual Educator at our Harvest Hills location in Edmonton. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of child development, exceptional engagement skills, and a dedication to fostering positive relationships with both children and colleagues. The individual will be dependable, adaptable, fluent in English, and exhibit outstanding communication and multitasking abilities. Prior experience is advantageous, and candidates must possess or be willing to obtain Alberta Child Care certification levels 1, 2, or 3, along with current criminal record check (with vulnerable sector search) and first aid certification.

Please Note

This is an on-call positions where Directors will reach out to employees to cover shifts when regular Educators are absent. We are seeking individuals who have full-day availability at least three days per week. On average, employees can expect to work 1-4 shifts per week, depending on their preferences and the needs of the center.
