Job summary

Norwest Early Learning and Child Care Centre in Winnipeg, MB invites applications for a Childcare Assistant - Inclusion Support (Indefinite Term). The role involves morning and late afternoon shifts, with full-day coverage during in-services and holiday breaks, and a flexible 7:00am–5:00pm window.

You will ensure the safety and care of children, provide emotional support, support development, and follow behaviour policies.

Qualifications

• Classification as Child Care Assistant.
• Strong interpersonal, team building, and communication skills.
• Current first-aid and CPR certification (Level C).
• Good understanding of Manitoba Child Care Program’s Regulations.
• Energetic, friendly and enthusiastic.
• Willing to take initiative.
• Experience with inclusion supports is an asset.
• Subject to successful criminal record with vulnerable sector search & child abuse registry check.
• Must complete mandatory 40-hour course approved by Manitoba Early Learning and Child Care (within first 6 months).
• Must complete Commit to Kids online training immediately upon hire.

Responsibilities

• To follow Centre’s behaviour management policy
• To maintain confidentiality; follow licensing regulations, and Centre policies and procedures
• To work with a team of professionals to meet the individual needs of children who require additional supports
• Communicate regularly with families
• To work directly with children and families who require additional supports
• Other duties as assigned

Position: Childcare Assistant - INCLUSION SUPPORT (Indefinite Term)

Hours: 7am to 9am and 3:30pm-5:00pm, full day shift on in-services and Holiday Breaks

Shift: available between 7:00am-5:00pm

Salary: As per CUPE contract
