Job summary

Norwest Early Learning and Child Care Centre in Winnipeg, MB invites applications for a Childcare Assistant - Inclusion Support (Indefinite Term). The role involves morning and late afternoon shifts, with full-day coverage during in-services and holiday breaks, and a flexible 7:00am–5:00pm window.

You will ensure the safety and care of children, provide emotional support, support development, and follow behaviour policies.

Qualifications

Classification as Child Care Assistant.
Strong interpersonal, team building, and communication skills.
Current first-aid and CPR certification (Level C).
Good understanding of Manitoba Child Care Program’s Regulations.
Energetic, friendly and enthusiastic.
Willing to take initiative.
Experience with inclusion supports is an asset.
Subject to successful criminal record with vulnerable sector search & child abuse registry check.
Must complete mandatory 40-hour course approved by Manitoba Early Learning and Child Care (within first 6 months).
Must complete Commit to Kids online training immediately upon hire.

Responsibilities

To ensure the physical care and safety of the children.
To provide emotional support and nurturing care to children
To provide children with opportunities for growth and development
To follow Centre’s behaviour management policy
To maintain confidentiality; follow licensing regulations, and Centre policies and procedures
To work with a team of professionals to meet the individual needs of children who require additional supports
Communicate regularly with families
To work directly with children and families who require additional supports
Other duties as assigned
