Hiring the Position of Child & Youth Worker

Responsibilities
  1. Provide support to individual students and staff through a self-regulation and problem-solving approach;
  2. Assist, develop, and participate in meetings to support the mental wellbeing, social, emotional, and behavioral goals of students;
  3. Collaborate with students, teachers, parents, and other support services within the school board;
  4. Participate in and facilitate school-based team meetings to support the holistic development of students;
  5. Attend meetings and liaise with community agencies as needed for student support;
  6. Engage in quality training focused on student wellbeing within the school board;
  7. Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills
  1. Completion of a three-year Community College program specific to Child and Youth Work;
  2. At least 3 years of relevant work experience;
  3. Current membership with the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care (OACYC);
  4. Knowledge of relevant legislation, developmental needs of children/youth, and group facilitation experience;
  5. Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and caseload management ability;
  6. Calm, compassionate, and professional demeanor when dealing with students;
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including documentation and behavior management strategies;
  8. Proficiency in computer technology and report writing;
  9. Strong interpersonal skills and courteous interaction with students, parents, teachers, and community partners;
  10. Ability to maintain confidentiality due to the sensitive nature of information;
  11. Valid Ontario Driver’s License (Class G) and access to personal transportation.
