MISSION

The Child and Youth Worker plays a pivotal role in the expansion of the organization's Live-In Treatment program, engaging and coordinating the delivery of high-quality care to clients and their families.

PRIORITIES

  1. Supervise and engage with children and youth during daily activities, providing emotional support and guidance to help clients address personal challenges.
  2. Facilitate treatment groups, life skills training, and recreational activities to support goal attainment while encouraging positive behaviours and reinforcing coping strategies.
  3. Communicate regularly with families about client progress, involve them in the care process, and conduct family psychoeducation to strengthen family dynamics.
  4. Collaborate with therapists, social workers, program staff, clinicians, community partners, and families, participating in team meetings to discuss client progress and strategies and develop individualized treatment plans.
  5. Facilitate outings and activities that promote social integration and build partnerships with local organizations to enhance resources for clients.
  6. Maintain accurate and confidential client records, and prepare reports and summaries for team meetings and treatment reviews.
  7. Implement emergency procedures and design crisis safety plans with youth to ensure client safety.
  8. Identify and respond to crises or behavioral issues using de-escalation techniques, and manage crisis situations with appropriate strategies.
  9. Assess family, school, and community dynamics affecting client functioning and deliver therapeutic programming to youth, families, and treatment groups.
  10. Maintain a therapeutic environment and ensure compliance with agency standards and philosophy to contribute to a safe and supportive living environment.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

TALENTS & EXPERTISE

  1. A Diploma in Child and Youth Work or a relevant field. A Bachelors/Masters degree is considered an asset.
  2. Minimum 1 year of experience working with children and adolescents in a therapeutic or care setting.
  3. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  5. Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  6. Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience and active listening.
  7. Flexible hours as needed.
