Qualifications

Evolving Youth Care has been providing a full spectrum of services to children and youth since 1998. Our homes are located throughout Ottawa and the surrounding areas, serving children and youth ages 12-17.

We are looking for team members who are committed to positively impacting the youth we support. We are currently looking for staff to work a combination of days/evenings and every second weekend for our group homes located throughout the Ottawa area. Evolving Youth Care is looking for part-time and full-time Child and Youth Workers.

Evolving Youth Care is looking for staff team members who demonstrate positive leadership skills and know how to set and maintain professional boundaries with clients. This position will include taking responsibility for the youths’ safety and security and supporting them in the areas of Individual/Group Therapy, Life Skills, and Social Skills, as well as assisting with community-based services, including medical, personal, recreational, and educational needs.

Key components of this position include:

  1. Obtain information and prepare reports or case histories
  2. Implementing life skills workshops
  3. Assess client's relevant skill strengths and development needs
  4. Develop, coordinate and implement the delivery of specific services within the community
  5. Provide suicide and crisis intervention
  6. Resolve conflict situations
  7. Implement substance abuse treatment programs and behavior management programs
  8. Liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients
  9. Housekeeping and cooking

Education Requirements:
Ideally, you possess a high school diploma along with one of the following: Child and Youth Care Worker (CCW/CYW/CYC) Diploma, Social Service Worker (SSW) Diploma, Community Justice Worker (CJW), Police Foundations (PF). Similar experience working in Social Services will also be considered.

Additional Requirements:
Criminal record check, Child welfare check, Driver's license, medical exam. Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) will be considered an asset.
