YMCA of Simcoe Muskoka in Innisfil, Ontario, is hiring a Child & Youth Program Instructor. You will deliver structured programs for children and youth, supervise participants, and maintain safety in a welcoming environment.

You bring strong communication, time management, First Aid/CPR, and safeguarding training. Flexible hours, wellness day, and YMCA health membership are offered to support your growth and well-being.

Qualifications

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • First Aid/CPR certification and safeguarding training required.
  • Willingness to complete mandated trainings before/soon after start.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver structured programs for children and youth, modifying as needed by age and development.
  • Coach and supervise children during programs and maintain safety.
  • Communicate with participants, caregivers, members and staff; maintain records as required.
  • Contribute to a clean, well-maintained facility and participate in team tasks.

The opportunity:

Join our team at the Innisfil YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka a s a Child and Youth Program Instructor and be part of a journey of fun and growth! We are all about creating a safe and exciting environment for children, youth, and families while delivering top-notch, values-based programs and services

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver structured programs for children and youth, with the ability to modify programs to meet the age-appropriate and developmental needs of all participants
  • Coach and appropriately supervise children during scheduled programs
  • Communicate with all participants and their caregivers, members, staff and volunteers
  • Maintain records as needed, including attendance sheets, program area maintenance items and daily checklists
  • Work as part of a team to ensure a clean and well maintained facility at all times

You bring:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Standard First Aid/CPR Certification ‘C’
  • Healthy Child Development training or experience working with children in a recreational setting is an asset
  • Clear Police Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • Must be able to work flexible hours based program needs
  • Willingness to participate in mandated training to be completed before or shortly after commencement of work including:
  • AODA Training
  • Health & Safety Awareness Training
  • Bill 168 (Violence & Harassment in the Workplace) Training
  • PCI Compliance
  • WHMIS
  • Child Safeguarding Training
