Job summary

The YMCA of Simcoe Muskoka is seeking a Child and Youth Program Instructor to lead Basketball/Soccer activities for children and youth in Innisfil. You will deliver structured programs, adapt to age needs, and supervise participants with a focus on safety and learning.

You will communicate with families and staff, maintain records, and collaborate with a team to ensure a clean, safe facility. Roles require First Aid/CPR C and background checks; training is provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching children in Basketball or Soccer.
• NCCP certification is considered an asset.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong time management and organizational abilities.
• Standard First Aid/CPR Certification ‘C’.
• Healthy Child Development training or related experience is an asset.
• Clear Police Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening.
• Ability to work flexible hours based on program needs.
• Willingness to complete mandated trainings (AODA, Health & Safety Awareness, Bill 168, PCI, WHMIS, Child Safeguarding).

Responsibilities

Join YMCA Simcoe/Muskoka as a Child and Youth Program Instructor in Wasaga Beach as a Basketball/Soccer Coach We are all about creating a safe and exciting environment for children, youth, and families while delivering top-notch, values-based programs and services.

In this role, you will:

• Deliver structured Basketball/Soccer programs for children and youth, with the ability to modify programs to meet the age-appropriate and developmental needs of all participants
• Coach and appropriately supervise children during scheduled programs
• Communicate with all participants and their caregivers, members, staff and volunteers
• Maintain records as needed, including attendance sheets, program area maintenance items and daily checklists
• Work as part of a team to ensure a clean and well maintained facility at all times

You bring:

• Experience coaching children in Basketball or Soccer
• Current NCCP is considered an asset
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Exceptional time management and organizational skills
• Standard First Aid/CPR Certification ‘C’
• Healthy Child Development training or experience working with children in a recreational setting is an asset
