Job summary

Pinnacle Group in Waikato, NZ is seeking a dedicated immunisation improvement nurse for a 12-month fixed-term role (32 hours per week) to help tamariki and whānau access timely vaccines and trusted information.

You will work with general practices, whānau and community partners to strengthen systems, mentor teams and lead small improvement activities, with a strong focus on equity for Māori and Pasifika children.

Qualifications

  • Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and competency to practice.
  • Two years' post-registration nursing experience.
  • Independent authorised vaccinator status.
  • Current full NZ driver licence.
  • Experience with pēpi, tamariki and whānau in health settings.
  • Understanding of Health NZ Te Whatu Ora immunisation programme.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and support service improvement.
  • Able to work flexibly with competing responsibilities.

Job description

Te whiwhinga mahi: The opportunity

Help improve immunisation access and health outcomes for tamariki and whānau across Waikato.

We are looking for a passionate child immunisation improvement nurse to join our Waikato team in a 12-month fixed-term role, working 32 hours per week.

In this relationship-focused role, you will work alongside general practices, whānau and community partners to help ensure tamariki receive timely immunisations and trusted information. You will join a supportive, equity-focused team with a particular commitment to improving outcomes for Māori and Pasifika children and other priority groups.

No two days will be quite the same. You will spend time across the rohe:

  • Building trusted relationships with general practices, community partners and whānau.
  • Helping practices strengthen their immunisation systems and processes.
  • Mentoring, facilitating and sharing practical knowledge.
  • Supporting hauora and community events.
  • Leading small improvement activities that make immunisation services easier to access.

He kōrero mōu: About you

You will bring warmth, curiosity and a commitment to equitable child health outcomes. You will be comfortable working independently in the community while remaining closely connected to your team.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and evidence of competency to practice.
  • At least two years' post-registration nursing experience.
  • Current status as an independent authorised vaccinator.
  • A current full New Zealand driver licence.
  • Experience working with pēpi, tamariki and their whānau in a health setting.
  • An understanding of the Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora immunisation programme.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to build relationships, introduce new ideas and support service improvement.
  • The ability to work flexibly and manage competing responsibilities.

It would also be helpful if you have:

  • Experience in mentoring or facilitation.
  • Experience using practice management systems.
  • Confidence using Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
