PURPOSE: As one of Ottawa’s largest child and youth-serving charitable organizations, BGC Ottawa provides FREE, subsidized, and cost-saving community-based services and programs to an average of 5,000 young members annually. GENERAL SUMMARY

The CFO is a vital member of the senior management team, reporting directly to the CEO. This role oversees the finance function, including financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, forecasting, treasury, and risk management. The CFO also provides analytical support to various departments and the Board of Directors.

RESPONSIBILITIES / ACTIVITIES
Lead and Oversee Finance Function
  • Ensure timely, cost-effective financial reporting reflecting industry best practices.
  • Manage treasury functions, including cash, investments, and liabilities, maintaining financial flexibility.
  • Ensure compliance with government remittances, filings, and charitable status obligations.
Financial Planning
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, monitoring performance against plans.
  • Develop and maintain rolling cash flow forecasts and oversee capital planning.
  • Support revenue and expense forecasting, providing analytical insights and performance metrics.
  • Create financial dashboards and support the CEO in preparing board reports.
Risk Management
  • Oversee risk management strategies and insurance renewals to protect assets and mitigate risks.
Management of Finance Team and Support to Finance Committee
  • Supervise and develop the finance staff team, ensuring optimal resource deployment.
  • Support the Finance Committee with reports and oversight of financial assets.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Accounting designation or advanced finance degree required.
  • Experience in a CFO role or similar, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, communication, and strategic planning skills.
  • Experience managing IT functions and a high standard of ethics and integrity.
WORKING CONDITIONS

Primarily in a quiet, comfortable office environment, with occasional requirements for standing, walking, lifting, or crouching.
