Job summary

Tolko Industries in High Prairie, Alberta is seeking a Certified Electrician to join our High Prairie OSB Division. You will apply your PLC and HMI knowledge to troubleshoot electrical issues and implement safe, reliable fixes while contributing to plant modernization.

You will perform preventative maintenance, upgrades, and installations on motors and controls, driving equipment reliability and safe operation in a fast-paced forest products environment.

Qualifications

• Experienced electrician with a valid Interprovincial ticket.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with CMMS, preferably JD Edwards.
• Great communicator who can work independently.
• Previous experience in a forest products environment is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot electrical issues using PLCs and HMI systems and implement safe fixes.
• Perform preventative maintenance, installations and upgrades across motors and controls.
• Improve equipment reliability and ensure repaired systems operate safely.
• Apply organizational and planning skills to maintenance projects.

We’re looking for Certified Electrician to join our High Prairie OSB Division, located in High Prairie, Alberta. Our mill is undergoing an exciting major rebuild and modernization including the commissioning of a new continuous press which will make us the most modern mill in North America.

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

• An experienced electrician with a valid Interprovincial ticket.
• Strong diagnostic and problem solving skills.
• Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) - preferably JD Edwards.
• A great communicator that can work independently while still contributing to the overall performance of the team.
• Previous experience in a forest products environment is beneficial.
• The ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is a bonus.

Your ideal workday will look something like this:

• You will apply your knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems to troubleshoot electrical issues and come up with safe, reliable fixes.
• You will use your broad electrical experience to do preventative maintenance as well as installations and upgrades, working on a variety of motors, hydraulic motion controls, optimizers and encoders...just to name a few.
• You will use your passion for continuously improving equipment reliability to come up with solutions that keep our industrial electrical equipment and controls repaired and maintained.
• You will apply your organizational and planning skills to carry out maintenance projects and programs.
