Job summary

Tolko Industries Ltd. is seeking a Mechanical Team Leader for our High Prairie OSB mill in Alberta. The role leads maintenance teams, plans preventive work, and drives reliability in a 24/7 industrial setting.

You will supervise multiple technicians, coordinate parts and tools, and apply root-cause analysis to prevent downtime while promoting a strong safety culture. Join a modern, evolving facility with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Millwright Certificate of Qualification (Provincial or Interprovincial, Red Seal).
  • Minimum of 5 years industrial maintenance experience, with at least 2 years in supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial equipment, mechanical systems, fluid power, and maintenance best practices.
  • Proven troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent organization, planning, and prioritization abilities.
  • Strong leadership, team-building, coaching, and communication skills.
  • Experience leading maintenance teams of 5+ employees in an industrial setting.
  • Knowledge of OSB manufacturing processes and 24/7 operations is an asset.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems; CMMS familiarity (JD Edwards).
  • Graduation from or current enrollment in MMP program is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, coordinate, and direct mechanical maintenance resources for safe operations.
  • Lead, coach, train, and develop maintenance staff while promoting safety.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Coordinate procurement and availability of parts, materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Apply root cause analysis and continuous improvement to reliability and efficiency.
  • Plan preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Collaborate with operations to optimize performance and resource use.
  • Participate in rotation on-call, roughly one weekend every two months.

Mechanical Team Leader

Our Mechanical Team Leaders are critical to the success of our company. They keep our maintenance teams engaged, organized and efficient and support our operations teams in keeping our equipment running safely and efficiently. If you're a natural leader with a passion for maintenance excellence and continuous improvement, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Team Leader at High Prairie Oriented Strand Board (OSB) Division, located in High Prairie, Alberta. Our mill has undergone an exciting major rebuild and modernization including the commissioning of a new continuous press which makes us the most modern mill in North America.

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

  • A Millwright Certificate of Qualification (C of Q), either Provincial or Interprovincial (Red Seal).
  • A minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role following certification.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial equipment, mechanical systems, fluid power systems, and maintenance best practices.
  • Proven troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent organization, planning, and prioritization abilities.
  • Strong leadership, team-building, coaching, and communication skills.
  • Experience leading maintenance teams of 5 or more employees, including apprentices, in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of OSB manufacturing processes and continuous process operations considered an asset.
  • Experience maintaining large industrial equipment in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Knowledge of CMMS systems, including JD Edwards.
  • Graduate of, or currently enrolled in, the Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) Program.
  • Formal leadership training programs are considered an asset.
  • Six Sigma certification is considered an asset.

In this role you will:
