Job summary

Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited (P&H) is seeking a Certified Electrician to join P&H Milling in Halifax. You will repair plant electrical and mechanical equipment, ensuring safe, efficient production and compliance with safety standards.

Day-to-day tasks include preventive/corrective maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems, troubleshooting, and calibrating equipment. Strong PLC/VFD knowledge and flexibility for after-hours work are required.

Qualifications

• Certified Journeyman Electrician with Red Seal considered an asset.
• Minimum 1 year electrical experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, electrical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical systems, rotating equipment, and troubleshooting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
• Flexible to participate in after-hours and weekend on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies and standards.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment (electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electromechanical, PLC).
• Troubleshoot, repair, test, and calibrate equipment to maintain production efficiency.
• Complete scheduled maintenance, inspections, and building maintenance as required.
• Follow preventive maintenance procedures and keep records in CMMS.
• Monitor spare parts inventory and support procurement planning.
• Maintain high standards of quality, GMP, and food safety compliance.
• Document and maintain records per quality and safety standards.
• Participate in safety meetings, training, and certification programs.

Your Team

P&H Milling: P&H Milling is Canada’s largest Canadian-owned milling company, producing high-quality flour and cereal products for bakeries, food manufacturers, and consumers. From coast to coast, we transform Canadian wheat into trusted products that feed families at home and abroad.

We are seeking a Certified Electrician to join our P&H Milling team. This role is responsible for the repair of plant electrical and mechanical equipment in an efficient, timely and safe manner ensuring the safety of everyone on site as well as maintaining efficiency of production.

Day to Day

• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies, procedures, and standards.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment and systems, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electromechanical, and PLC-controlled equipment.
• Troubleshoot, repair, test, and calibrate equipment to maintain operational efficiency.
• Complete scheduled maintenance, plant inspections, and building maintenance as required, identifying issues and recommending corrective actions.
• Follow preventive maintenance procedures and maintain accurate records using maintenance management software.
• Monitor spare parts inventory and support procurement planning.
• Maintain high standards of quality, housekeeping, sanitation, GMP, food safety, and BRCGS compliance.
• Maintain required documentation and records in accordance with quality and safety standards.
• Participate in required safety meetings, training, and certification programs.

What You’ll Bring:

• Certified Journeyman Electrician; Red Seal certification considered an asset.
• Minimum 1 year of electrical experience, preferably in an industrial manufacturing environment.
