Full-Time Support Staff (10-month Contract)

The Central Analytical Facilities (CAF) Technologist reports to theCentral Analytic Facilities Manager and supports the day-to-day operation of the CAF by maintaining, setting up, and troubleshooting CAF equipment. Key duties include providing technical support to CAF users, assisting with the development of methods and protocols for researchers and professors, and performing assigned analytical tasks. The CAF Technologist contributes to effective day-to-day operations by maintaining chemical and supply inventories, assisting with ordering, collecting chemical waste, maintaining a safe working environment, and supporting the high-quality water supply used for CAF and other research purposes. Evening and weekend analytical work in the CAF may be required.

The successful candidate will hold abachelor’s degree in chemistry along withfive years of analytical chemistry experience. Amaster’s degree in a relevant science discipline is considered an asset.

This position is classified as Wage Grade 80, with a wage range from $32.27 per hour (Step 1) to $40.81 per hour (Step 9). Placement within the salary range will be determined based on the candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, as well as internal equity and market conditions.

Hiring is subject to final budgetary approval.
