Nipissing University in North Bay, Ontario, invites applications for a full-time Counsellor on an 11-month contract within the Mental Health and Wellbeing team.
The ideal candidate holds an undergraduate social work degree (B.S.W. or equivalent) with formal training in counselling theories and 1–3 years of relevant experience; a MSW/MA Counselling or MEd is considered an asset.
Full-Time Support Staff – (11-month contract)
As a member of the Mental Health and Wellbeing team, the Counsellor is responsible for providing drop-in individual and/or group counselling, coordinating student development and retention programs, and participating in community development and capacity building with the Nipissing University student population. The Counsellor participates in both individual supervision with the Manager of Student Mental Health and Wellbeing and peer-supervision with other counselling staff in the case planning process.
The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree in social work, B.S.W. (or equivalent). Masters of Social Work (M.S.W), M.A. (Counselling Psychology), or M.Ed. (Counselling) will be considered an asset. Formal training in counselling theories and their practical application is required along with one (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience.
This position is classified as Wage Grade 110, with a wage range from $38.44 per hour (Step 1) to $48.72 per hour (Step 9). Placement within the salary range will be determined based on the candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, as well as internal equity and market conditions.
Hiring is subject to final budgetary approval.
