Responsibilities

  • Smile, greet and focus on customers; apply active listening when taking orders.
  • Be knowledgeable about menu offerings to answer questions accurately.
  • Incorporate up-selling techniques and confirm orders to ensure accuracy.
  • Process orders in the proper sequence by entering into POS.
  • Inform culinary staff when quantities are low or when special requests are received.
  • Receive and prepare food and beverages for delivery; check quality and completeness.
  • Ensure orders are accurate and include all condiments.
  • Monitor delivery to ensure guest satisfaction and address additional requests.
  • Follow Sodexo Live! uniform and grooming standards.
  • Attend pre-shift or pre-event meetings and follow manager instructions.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of menus and offerings.
  • Take initiative in fulfilling guest requests and involve a supervisor if needed.
  • Follow local guidelines for responsible alcohol service; check IDs as required.
  • Follow attendance and break procedures.
  • Maintain customer focus and attention to detail in all tasks.

We are seeking an experienced Catering Workerfor the BC Place Stadium.

Sodexo Live! is the Official Supplier of Food and Beverage Services to BC Place Stadium. BC Place is a multi-purpose stadium in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Located at the north side of False Creek, it is owned and operated by the BC Pavilion Corporation, a Crown corporation of the province. Home to BC Lions, Vancouver White Caps, Concerts and Live events, the facility hosts welcomes hundreds of thousands of fans each year, while generating significant economic activity for the Province.

Job Overview

The Catering Worker provides an elevated service to guests within BC Place They are responsible for providing fast and efficient service to guests including clubs, patios and suites. The Catering Worker will primarily service premium areas but may be required to work in various locations throughout venue decks and concourses. They will be able to accurately answer questions about menu items and provide general information about the venue. In addition, they will process payment transactions and are responsible for maintaining Sodexo Live!'s standards for service, quality, cleanliness and sanitation.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Smile, greet and focus on customers; Apply active listening skills as they state their order.
  • Be fully knowledgeable of menu offerings to answer customer questions accurately.
  • Incorporate suggestive selling or up-selling techniques, as appropriate; Verbally confirm order back to customer to ensure accuracy.
  • Process orders in the proper sequence by accurately entering into POS.
  • Inform culinary staff in a timely manner when food quantities are low or when special requests are received.
  • Receive and prepare food and beverage items for delivery to customer; Check all items for quality and completeness.
  • Ensure orders are accurate and all condiments are included.
  • When items are delivered, monitor to ensure their satisfaction and respond to any additional requests.
  • Follow all Sodexo Live! uniform and grooming standards.
  • Attend pre-shift or pre-event check-in meetings and follow instructions from managers and supervisors; Ask questions to ensure clear and complete understanding of needs and assignments.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of menus and food and beverage offerings.
  • Take initiative in fulfilling special guest requests and be creative in resolving guest challenges and complaints; Involve a supervisor when previous methods have been unsuccessful.
  • Follow all local guidelines for responsible alcoholic beverage service; Check identification of guests to verify age requirements for consumption of alcohol.
  • Follow established procedure for time and attendance and taking assigned meal breaks.
  • Apply consistent focus on the customer and pay close attention to detail in the performance of all tasks.
  • Participate in and foster positive team relations with wait staff, fellow cashiers, other Catering department employees and management.
  • Follow all laws, standards, guidelines and requirements for responsible alcoholic beverage service.
  • Perform opening and/or closing side work according to established checklists.
Qualifications/Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • SIR or TIPS trained or equivalent.
  • Of age to sever alcoholic beverages, based on state requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and effectively implement written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong team orientation and ability to work with a variety of departments to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations, to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Ability to work well independently.
  • Ability to work well in a high stress, fast paced environment.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used by guests who typically visit the work location.
  • Technology aptitude for working with POS and digital register.
  • Strong skills for providing guest service with keen ability to connect easily with customers.
  • Scheduling flexibility to meet operational needs. Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
Other Requirements
  • Able to work effectively and safely while subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight; must be able to maneuver in an often tightly-quartered environment.
