Job summary

Kelowna General Hospital, part of Interior Health, seeks a detail-oriented Surgical Booking Clerk to support our surgical services in Kelowna, BC. This casual role covers days 07:30–15:30 with rotating days off, offering varied duties in a busy hospital setting.

Responsibilities include processing procedure requests, updating waitlists, and coordinating with physicians and hospital departments. Training and shift premiums are provided along with other benefits.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 and three year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Ability to keyboard at 45 wpm (within past 48 months) from an accredited institution.

Responsibilities

• Receives and processes requests for surgical procedures and coordinates with physicians and their offices.
• Develops and updates surgical waitlists and slates using computerized scheduling systems (PICIS OR Manager, SPR, CWS).
• Edits surgical slate, identifies errors, assigns extra cases, and confirms final bookings with designated personnel.
• Communicates with Admitting, Medical Device Reprocessing, nursing units, anesthetists, surgeons, and other departments.
• Instructs patients/family on pre-operative instructions and pre-admission visits.
• Generates and maintains surgical data and reports on bookings and waitlists.
• Performs general clerical duties and input of patient data into relevant systems.
