Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a dedicated Recreation Aide for New Orchard Lodge in Ottawa, Ontario. This casual position offers days, evenings and weekends, with opportunities to plan, implement and evaluate activations for residents based on assessed needs.

You will maintain program records, work with nursing staff, and help create engaging activities for all residents, including those with cognitive impairments. A Recreation and Leisure Services / Gerontology diploma is required.

Qualifications

• A Diploma/Degree in Recreation and Leisure Services or Gerontology is required.
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in one-to-one and group program planning, implementation and evaluation for residents, including cognitively impaired.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and evaluate activation programs based on assessed needs.
• Set up and clean activity areas, transport residents as needed.
• Maintain program and resident records; communicate participation to staff.
• Collaborate with other departments to meet resident needs.
