Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a dedicated Recreation Aide for New Orchard Lodge in Ottawa, Ontario. This casual position offers days, evenings and weekends, with opportunities to plan, implement and evaluate activations for residents based on assessed needs.

You will maintain program records, work with nursing staff, and help create engaging activities for all residents, including those with cognitive impairments. A Recreation and Leisure Services / Gerontology diploma is required.

Qualifications

• A Diploma/Degree in Recreation and Leisure Services or Gerontology is required.
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in one-to-one and group program planning, implementation and evaluation for residents, including cognitively impaired.

Monitor the behavior and condition of residents during programs and report any significant changes to the Supervisor and nursing staff as appropriate.Participate in the development and revision of programs under the guidance of the Supervisor.Maintain program and resident records according to department policy.
