Job summary

Extendicare's New Orchard Lodge in Ottawa, ON, is seeking a Recreation and Leisure Services professional to join our casual roster. You will plan and deliver individual and group activation activities, monitor residents, and work with the care team to support wellbeing and engagement.

You'll bring a diploma/degree in Recreation and Leisure Services or Gerontology, strong communication, documentation, and the ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs for seniors, including those with

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Recreation and Leisure Services / Gerontology required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and documentation.
• Experience in one-on-one/group program planning, implementation and evaluation for both well and cognitively impaired.
• Experience in care planning and resident assessments.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Ability to plan and evaluate new ideas and volunteer initiatives.
• Knowledge of geriatric population and cognitive conditions.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and evaluate activation programs based on assessed needs.
• Set up and clean activity areas and transport residents to programs; monitor residents.
• Participate in development and revision of programs under Supervisor.
• Maintain program and resident records; communicate participation to staff.
• Work cooperatively with other departments to meet resident needs.
