Job summary

The Vancouver Convention Centre invites applications for Casual Ambassadors to support two event teams, Events Experience and Exhibits, in our space. You will help welcome guests, provide information, and ensure smooth event operations.

As part of a renowned venue, you will assist exhibitors and guests, manage access and shipping details, and contribute to a high level of service for hundreds of events annually. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is required.

Qualifications

  • Progressive experience in a customer service position, preferably in events or hospitality.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and customer service mindset.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome all visitors with a professional and friendly demeanor.
  • Respond to guest questions, concerns, or feedback in a timely and helpful manner.
  • Provide accurate directions and information about the venue and surrounding area.
  • Serve as an event host or concierge for designated events, supporting both guests and event teams.
  • Monitor guest areas for suspicious or unsafe activity and report issues promptly.
  • Stay informed of daily venue activities to deliver consistent and knowledgeable support to all stakeholders.
  • Provide guest services support at the Guest Services desk, including assisting internal teams and managing visitor access protocols.
  • Ensure a high level of service excellence and Exhibitor Experience by providing information to exhibitors related to VCC Venue operations, event timing & location, shipping detail, parking, and both internal & external service providers.
  • Assist exhibitors at the service desk during events hours (including evenings and weekend).
  • Process exhibitor orders and payments for exhibitor orders.
  • Audit booth number against exhibitor list prior to move-in to identify changes.
  • Using your conflict resolution skills, you will assess, resolve, and escalte exhibitor issues including complex booth requirements.
  • Using your strong interpersonal skills, you will collaborate with VCC staff and suppliers to ensure that exhibitor feedback is shared and that service requests are completed.

The Vancouver Convention Centre is hiring multiple Casual Ambassadors to join and support two of our event teams in our space; Events Experience and Exhibits.

Our award-winning facility hosts more than 550 events a year, from global conventions and trade and consumer shows to meetings, banquets and special events, welcoming hundreds of thousands of attendees from around the world.

  • The hourly rate for this position starts at $ 24.01

WHAT YOU WILL DO: (You will be assigned to one of two teams during your shift)
