Job summary

Shannex Incorporated invites applications for a Casual (no guaranteed hours) Continuing Care Assistant (PSW) to join our Parkland Fredericton - Neill Hall team based in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The role focuses on compassionate resident care and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to support meaningful daily living.

You will assist residents with hygiene and daily activities, help plan leisure activities, and participate in ongoing education and safety initiatives.

Qualifications

• Valid PSW Acute Care diploma or Provincial Personal Care Worker course or equivalent.
• Ability to work a schedule of flexible hours including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Availability to work a minimum of 6 shifts per quarter.
• Clear criminal record with vulnerable sector screening on hire.
• CPR & First Aid Certification or BLS required.
• Advanced proficiency in English; French is an asset.
• Alzheimer’s/Dementia care training is an asset.
• Previous experience with elderly in long-term care is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assists residents with hygiene and daily living activities.
• Collaborates with the resident and interdisciplinary team in developing Resident Care Plans.
• Assists in planning and implementing daily resident leisure activities.
• Assists with light housekeeping duties.
• Performs delegated nursing acts according to policy and scope of practice.
• Communicates and reports relevant information regarding resident care or safety to Supervisor.

About The Opportunity

• Assists residents with hygiene and daily living activities, such as: bathing, dressing, oral care, skin care, meals, and mobilizing according to the work assignment;
• Collaborates with the resident and other members of the interdisciplinary team in the development of individualized Resident Care Plan;
• Assists in the planning and implementation of resident leisure activities on a daily basis;
• Assists with light housekeeping duties;
• Performs delegated nursing acts according to company policy and scope of practice;
• Communicates and reports relevant information regarding resident care or safety to Supervisor

About You

• A valid Personal Support Worker Acute Care diploma or Provincial Personal Care Worker course or equivalent;
• Ability to work a schedule of flexible hours and shifts inclusive of days, nights, weekends, and holidays;
• Availability to work a minimum of 6 shifts per quarter, available to work all shift types and days of the week;
• Ability to provide a clear criminal record with vulnerable sector screening upon hire;
• Valid CPR & First Aid Certification or BLS (required);
• Advanced proficiency in the English language is required, proficiency in French considered an asset;
• Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care course considered an asset;
• Previous working experience with elderly in long-term care or a senior living environment an asset;
