Job summary

Shannex Incorporated is seeking a Temporary Part-Time Continuing Care Assistant (PSW) for Parkland Fredericton - Neill Hall in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The role supports residents with daily living activities and works with an interdisciplinary team to implement care plans.

The position offers an hourly wage of approximately $26.82 to $28.51, immediate benefits eligibility upon hire, and opportunities for professional growth through Shannex’s Centre of Excellence.

Qualifications

• Valid PSW/acute care diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Clear vulnerable sector/criminal record check upon hire.
• CPR & First Aid certification or BLS required.
• Strong English; French is an asset.
• Experience in elderly long-term care is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with hygiene and daily living activities.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team on Resident Care Plans.
• Assist with daily resident leisure activities.
• Support light housekeeping duties.
• Perform delegated nursing acts per policy and scope of practice.
• Report care or safety information to Supervisor.

About The Opportunity

• Assists residents with hygiene and daily living activities, such as: bathing, dressing, oral care, skin care, meals, and mobilizing according to the work assignment;
• Collaborates with the resident and other members of the interdisciplinary team in the development of individualized Resident Care Plan;
• Assists in the planning and implementation of resident leisure activities on a daily basis;
• Assists with light housekeeping duties;
• Performs delegated nursing acts according to company policy and scope of practice;
• Communicates and reports relevant information regarding resident care or safety to Supervisor

About You

• A valid Personal Support Worker Acute Care diploma or Provincial Personal Care Worker course or equivalent;
• Ability to work a schedule of flexible hours and shifts inclusive of days, nights, weekends, and holidays;
• Ability to provide a clear criminal record with vulnerable sector screening upon hire;
• Valid CPR & First Aid Certification or BLS (required);
• Advanced proficiency in the English language is required, proficiency in French considered an asset;
• Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care course considered an asset;
• Previous working experience with elderly in long-term care or a senior living environment an asset;
• A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services and care
