Job summary

Extendicare in Gloucester, Ontario, is seeking a Resident Program Aide to design, implement and evaluate individual and group activity programs for residents, under supervision. You’ll transport participants, help maintain records, and support a safe, engaging living environment.

The role requires a Recreation and Leisure Services or Gerontology diploma, experience with geriatric populations, and strong teamwork.

Job Description Resident Program Aide– Extendicare

As a valued member of our recreation team, you will assume ultimate responsibility for providing high quality care while maintaining a safe and healthy environment for residents and staff.

This position is for our Laurier Manor Home, located in Gloucester, Ontario. Available opportunities include casual shifts, including 2 weekends per month.

What you’ll be doing:

• Plan, implement, evaluate, develop, and revise both individual and group activation programs based on assessed needs under the guidance of the Supervisor.
• Set up and clean activity area as necessary and transport residents to and from programs.
• Monitor the behavior and condition of residents during programs and report any significant changes to the Supervisor and nursing staff as appropriate.
• Maintain program and resident records according to department policy.
• Communicate participation by residents to registered staff.

What you bring:

• Proof of successful completion of an approved Recreation and Leisure Services /Gerontology Diploma or Degree program required.
• Knowledge and demonstrated experience in one-one/group program planning, care planning, resident assessments, implementation, and evaluation for geriatric population especially those cognitively impaired.
