Job summary

Extendicare is hiring a Resident Program Aide for our Laurier Manor Home in Gloucester, Ontario. The role supports activity programs for residents, including transport and setup, under supervision. It emphasizes high-quality care and a safe environment for residents and staff.

The position is part-time with casual shifts, including 2 weekends per month, offering a meaningful work experience and opportunities for growth within Extendicare.

Qualifications

  • Proof of completion of an approved Recreation and Leisure Services / Gerontology Diploma or Degree is required.
  • Experience in one-on-one/group program planning and evaluation for geriatric residents, including cognitive impairment, is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, evaluate, develop, and revise activation programs based on assessed needs under the guidance of the Supervisor.
  • Set up and clean activity area and transport residents to and from programs.
  • Monitor the behavior and condition of residents during programs and report significant changes to the Supervisor and nursing staff.
  • Maintain program and resident records according to department policy and communicate participation to registered staff.

Resident Program Aide– Extendicare

This position is for ourLaurier Manor Home, located inGloucester, Ontario.

Available opportunities includecasual shifts, including 2 weekends per month.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Plan, implement, evaluate, develop, and revise both individual and group activation programs based on assessed needs under the guidance of the Supervisor.
  • Set up and clean activity area as necessary and transport residents to and from programs.
  • Monitor the behavior and condition of residents during programs and report any significant changes to the Supervisor and nursing staff as appropriate.
  • Maintain program and resident records according to department policy. Communicate participation by residents to registered staff.

What you bring:

  • Proof of successful completion of an approved Recreation and Leisure Services /Gerontology Diploma or Degree program required.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience in one-one/group program planning, care planning, resident assessments, implementation, and evaluation for geriatric population especially those cognitively impaired.
