Job summary

Extendicare Oshawa, located at 82 Park Road North, is seeking a Certified Resident Programs Aide to plan, implement, and evaluate activation programs for residents under supervision. The role emphasizes care for geriatric residents, including those cognitively impaired, and requires a recreation and leisure services or gerontology credential.

Qualifications

  • Proof of successful completion of an approved Recreation and Leisure Services / Gerontology Diploma or Degree program required.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience in one-on-one/group program planning, care planning, resident assessments, implementation, and evaluation for geriatric population especially those cognitively impaired.

This position is for our Extendicare Oshawa, located at 82 Park Road North. PRIOR TO INTERVIEW APPLICANT MUST PROVIDE VALID (WITHIN SIX MONTHS) VULNERABLE SECTOR CHECK (VSC).


What you’ll be doing:


  • Plan, implement, evaluate, develop, and revise both individual and group activation programs based on assessed needs under the guidance of the Supervisor.

  • Set up and clean activity area as necessary and transport residents to and from programs.

  • Monitor the behavior and condition of residents during programs and report any significant changes to the Supervisor and nursing staff as appropriate.
