Job summary

City of Kelowna invites applications for a Casual Licence & Bylaw Enforcement Officer. Qualifications

• High School graduation or equivalent.
• Completion of recognized Bylaw Enforcement & Investigative Skills Certificate (Justice Institute Level I & II or equivalent).
• BC Driver’s License – Class 5.
• RCMP Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Investigates complaints of bylaw infractions and enforces municipal bylaws and regulations.
• Records, responds, investigates and resolves bylaw enquiries and complaints from public, businesses and agencies.
• Issues municipal tickets for various bylaw violations (business license, parking, illegal suites, signs, etc.).
• Interviews complainants and alleged offenders; presents evidence in court when required.
• Prepares reports, court documents, logs and maintains records; uses computerized databases.
• Patrols streets and parks to identify bylaw problems; reports hazards and coordinate with RCMP.
• Performs traffic control during incidents and events.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

Bylaw Enforcement & Investigative Skills Certificate (JIBC Level I & II)

BC Driver’s License – Class 5

RCMP Security Clearance
