British Columbia Public School Employers' Association | Make a Future - Careers in BC Education is seeking a casual custodial worker to perform cleaning and maintenance duties in Elk Valley locations (Jaffray, Fernie, Sparwood, Elkford). The position carries no guaranteed hours and features a wage rate of $24.81 per hour.

The successful candidate will ensure safe, sanitary conditions, operate cleaning equipment and support school operations in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Willing to obtain Grade 12 if not currently attained.
• Driver's License would be considered an asset.
• Experience or formal training in cleaning would be an asset.
• Computer skills would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Ensure secure, safe and sanitary conditions of the facility and grounds, such as setting alarms, locking doors, snow removal, dusting, sweeping, washing and garbage pickup.
• Perform cleaning, maintenance and restoration of floors, e.g., stripping and waxing.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of cleaning equipment and supplies and order as needed.
• Operate and care for equipment related to the position.
• Make routine repairs in agreement with the Director of Operations or designate for assigned tasks.
• Report maintenance concerns to the principal/vice principal.
• Check daily with the school principal/vice principal for specific school needs.
• Complete daily checklist of duties.
• Perform other job-related duties.

JOB SUMMARY

An employee hired to perform custodial duties is responsible to the Director of Operations or designate.

POSITION: This position is casual with no guarantee of hours to work in Elk Valley locations; Jaffray, Fernie, Sparwood, Elkford.

HOURS OF WORK: Twelve months per year position.

WAGE RATE: As per C.U.P.E Local 4165 Agreement $24.81

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

• Grade 12 or equivalent or willing to obtain
• Driver's License would be considered an asset
• Experience/formal training cleaning in a related field would be considered an asset.
• Computer skills would be an asset
