Job summary

Metis Addictions Council of Saskatchewan Inc. is hiring an Addictions Counsellor in Prince Albert on a permanent casual basis. You will work with clients across our addiction services, providing evidence-based counselling and case management. Shifts run 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with on-call as needed. Salary is per SEIU-WEST CBA.

The role requires relevant addictions counselling education and 7–11 months of experience, plus strong interpersonal and group facilitation skills.

Qualifications

• Addictions counselling diploma or equivalent required or acceptable university/human services coursework.
• 7–11 months of relevant experience in addiction services is expected.
• Strong knowledge of counselling principles and client assessment processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, family and group counselling using individualized treatment plans.
• Supervise and monitor client conduct; maintain client records.
• Conduct crisis intervention and support; align with program objectives.
• Develop treatment plans and manage case files; perform clerical duties.
• Conduct substance abuse testing for clients in our programs.

As an Addictions Counsellor with the Metis Addictions Council of Saskatchewan Inc. (MACSI), you will have the opportunity to be work with clients in all areas of our addictions services. Addictions Counsellors play a pivotal role in ensuring our continued addiction services to our clients in our community. You will provide strong knowledge and effective methods of counselling principles, strong interpersonal and group facilitation skills. You will report directly to the Regional Director.

This position is permanent casual. Shifts will be assigned on as-needed, call in basis between 8:30 AM to 16:30 PM, Monday to Friday.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Dynamic supervision and monitoring of the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our clients
• Co-facilitate individual, family and group counselling sessions according to individualized treatment plans
• Supervise/monitor client conduct, and maintain records of client activity
• Interview clients, review files, and evaluate our clients to determine their suitability for participation in our programming
• Provide crisis intervention and support
• Ensure programming functions consistently with the treatment program objectives
• Develop client treatment plans and case file management
• Perform various clerical duties
• Perform substance abuse testing for clients in our program(s)

Among these responsibilities, you will bring to this role an Addictions Counselling Diploma, Chemical Dependency Diploma, Community Services Addictions Diploma, or an applicable University Degree or Human Services Course completion. We will consider the combination of your work experience and education as it is deemed suitable for this role.
