Qualifications

  • Experience supporting a diverse client base, with priority for PWD clients.
  • Post-secondary education in a career development or social services field.
  • Career Development Practitioner Certificate is an asset.
  • Minimum two years in career counseling or job development.
  • Knowledge of resume writing and job search strategies.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Clear criminal record check required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess clients to document strengths and needs related to employment.
  • Provide case management and client-centred support.
  • Case-load management for 100+ job seekers with tailored supports.
  • Assist with resumes, cover letters, interview prep, and accommodations.
  • Outreach to employers to source opportunities.
  • Develop rapport and provide job search skills training.
  • Contribute to KPI achievement and maintain biweekly contact.
  • Connect job seekers to opportunities through job development.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST - 3 positions available

37.5 hours/week | Salary $57,940 | Onsite - Toronto, ON

As a Career Development Specialist (CDS), you’ll work alongside individuals facing unique barriers to employment, providing guidance, support, and innovative solutions. CORE DUTIES
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand and document individuals’ strengths, needs, abilities, and relevant factors associated with employment.
  • Demonstrate strong case management skills, ensuring assigned clients receive attentive service.
  • Manage a caseload of 100+ job seekers, adjusting supports provided based on assessment of clients’ individual needs, strengths, and capabilities; conduct community referrals as appropriate.
  • Assist individuals in crafting impactful resumes and cover letters, refining interview techniques, and coordinating necessary accommodations to enhance their chances of securing employment.
  • Outreach to employers to source job opportunities tailored to jobseeker employment goals.
  • Develop and maintain strong rapport with each job seeker, fostering a supportive environment.
  • Provide advice, conduct job search skills training, and organize activities geared towards facilitating employment for job seekers.
  • Actively contribute to achieving individual Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Maintain meaningful biweekly contact with assigned clients, offering service and monitoring progress.
  • Connect job seekers to job opportunities through job search and job development activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Applicants who have experience working with a diverse clientele, including specific experience supporting People with Disabilities (PWD) will be prioritized.
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field (e.g. career development, social services).
  • Career Development Practitioner Certificate is an asset.
  • Two years experience in career counseling, job development, or relevant social service roles.
  • Knowledgeable of current trends with resume writing and job search strategies.
  • Demonstrated background in a fast-paced setting and excellent customer service skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills, problem-solving, and efficient time management skills.
  • Proficient in producing comprehensive and well-structured documentation.
  • Clear criminal record check is required.
