Job summary

Interior Health is seeking an experienced Care Aide to join the Long-term Care team at Columbia View lodge in Trail, BC. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team to support patients’ physical, emotional and social needs while promoting independence.

Typical duties include assisting with personal care, mobility, monitoring health signs and participating in activities. This casual role offers flexible hours and supports ongoing training and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistant / Health Care Aide Program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Grade 10 as a minimum education requirement
  • Registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker registry (please include your active number)

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with personal care and activities of daily living
  • Assisting with mobility, transfers and related equipment
  • Performing nursing procedures such as taking temperature, pulse and respiration
  • Housekeeping activities relating to maintaining a safe and healthy environment
  • Observing and reporting changes in patient behavior and condition
  • Accompanying clients on outings and during social activities
  • Performing clerical duties and delegated tasks

About the Job

As the Care Aide you will work as an integral part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team, who provide care and support in a long-term care setting. Working under the direction of RN's and LPN's, Care Aide's have key responsibilities in the individual care plan for each patient, ensuring their physical, emotional and social needs are supported, while promoting maximum independence.

Typical duties include:

  • Assisting with personal care and activities of daily living
  • Assisting with mobility, transfers and related equipment
  • Performing nursing procedures such as taking temperature, pulse and respiration
  • Housekeeping activities relating to maintaining a safe and healthy environment
  • Observing and reporting changes in patient behavior and condition

  • Performing clerical duties and delegated tasks

This is a Casual opportunity. Casual Employees are not guaranteed hours of work and can range from 0-37.5 hours per week on an as-needed basis.
