Job summary

Interior Health is seeking an experienced Care Aide to join our Long-term Care team at Mountainview Lodge in Lillooet, BC. You will work under RN and LPN supervision to support residents' physical, emotional and social needs and promote independence.

Duties include assisting with personal care, mobility and daily living activities, taking vitals, helping with housekeeping, observing changes, accompanying residents on outings, and performing delegated clerical tasks.

Qualifications

• Grade 10 education is required or equivalent.
• Graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistant / Health Care Aide program or equivalent.
• Active registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker registry (include your active number).

Responsibilities

• Assist with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Assist with mobility, transfers and related equipment.
• Perform nursing procedures such as taking temperature, pulse and respiration.
• Housekeeping activities to maintain a safe environment.
• Observe and report changes in patient condition.
• Accompany clients on outings and social activities.
• Perform clerical duties and delegated tasks.

About the Job

As the Care Aide you will work as an integral part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team, who provide care and support in a long‑term care setting. Working under the direction of RN’s and LPN’s, Care Aide’s have key responsibilities in the individual care plan for each patient, ensuring their physical, emotional and social needs are supported, while promoting maximum independence.

Typical duties include:

• Assisting with personal care and activities of daily living
• Assisting with mobility, transfers and related equipment
• Performing nursing procedures such as taking temperature, pulse and respiration
• Housekeeping activities relating to maintaining a safe and healthy environment
• Observing and reporting changes in patient behavior and condition
• Accompanying clients on outings and during social activities
• Performing clerical duties and delegated tasks

This is a Relief Part Time opportunity until the return of the incumbent.

Shifts of work will be scheduled days and evenings rotating from 07:00 to 12:42, 07:00 to 14:00, 16:30 to 21:00, 16:00 to 20:00 hours.
